Stevia

Stevia
Stevia Rebaudiana also known as sweetleaf is a kind of green herb that origin from South American and has been used as a sweetener by local Guarani Indians for hundreds of years. The leaves of Stevia plant contains glycosides that have a delicious and refreshing taste that is approximately 200 times sweeter than sugar. Stevia glycosides dissolved in water and alcohol. It is stable in high temperature.

Our body does not metabolize the sweet glycosides which mean no caloric intake, thus Stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose levels in our blood. Stevia is suitable for diabetics’ patients and people who would like to maintain their body weight and good for people who has high blood pressure.

Fresh or dry Stevia leaf can be mixed with hot water to produce stevia tea that is sweet in taste. Drinking stevia tea can help to relief fatigue, and give us more freshness. Stevia is widely used as a sweetener in Japan, and it is now available in Canada and USA as a dietary supplement. Stevia has also been approved as a dietary supplement in Australia and New Zealand.
